The Rho Kappa Sigma Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. will award academic scholarships to Loudoun County high school seniors who pursue full-time enrollment in a community college, career-technical college, or 4-year college/university in the Fall of 2025.

 

Awards are based on financial need, academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills, and community service. The Rho Kappa Sigma Education Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select the final awards.

 

The scholarships awarded range from $500 – $1,000 for the 2025 – 2026 academic year and must be applied to tuition, fees, supplies, books and tools/equipment.  

Student Eligibility:

Eligible applicants must be students in good standing, graduating from a Loudoun County high school in 2025 with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates should demonstrate a strong dedication to community service, particularly within the African American or Afro-descendant community, and exhibit proven leadership skills. Additionally, applicants must be current residents of Loudoun County, Virginia.

Completed application form: This is a mandatory part of your application. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must sign the form.

  1. Copy of your 2024-2025 high school transcript

  2. Applicant photo or link to social media profile

  3. Letters of intent

    • (2) Two professional letters of recommendation

      • Academic (HS/Academy Teacher/Counselor/Principal, another educator)

      • Community (Religious Leader, Work Supervisor, Community/Volunteer Project Leader, etc.)

  4. Submission of Scholarship Essay (1 to 2 pages max)

  • Describe how your heritage as an African-American or Afro-descendant has influenced your personal development, community involvement, and leadership journey. Discuss the challenges you have faced, how you have contributed to uplifting your community, and how you plan to use your education further to support the African-American or Afro-descendant community.

 

Please include your name, school, and contact information on all documents submitted.

All documents must be received via email or postmarked by May 31, 2025. Applications submitted after the deadline and or incomplete applications will not be considered.
